Calling all KatyCats! MuchMusic kicks off the biggest award show on the planet with a bang, as the inimitable Katy Perry is the first performer announced for the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards.

Two years ago, Perry made a sweet arrival on the MMVA red carpet in an ice cream truck and dazzled fans with her Candyfornia-themed performance. There might not be ice cream again, but there will surely be screams for Katy!

“What other award show shuts down major city blocks to bring thousands of fans at arms length to the biggest pop stars in the world?,” said Sheila Sullivan, Executive Producer, 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards. “We’re thrilled to kick off this year’s show with the announcement of one of today’s most sought after artists, Katy Perry. Two years ago she brought Candyfornia to the MMVA stage. No doubt this year’s performance will be out of this world!”

Fans can now mark their calendars, as MuchMusic also confirmed today that the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards airs live from Much HQ in Toronto Sunday, June 17 at 9 p.m. ET. Perry is the first performer confirmed for the party that has fans taking to the streets and lining up overnight for the chance to get Much closer to the hottest A-Listers in the world. Katy‘s new single, “Part Of Me” debuted in the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 on Feb. 22, making it the first in a year, and only the 20th in 53 years, to debut at #1. The single also debuted at #1 on iTunes, with over 400,000 downloads in its first week. A special edition of Katy‘s triple platinum album Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, was released on March 26, and features three new songs.  Katy Perry: Part Of Me, the 3D feature film starring Perry releases July 5, and is a first-ever big-screen look at the international superstar’s life both on and off-stage.

She’s always up for a good shindig, and last night (April 18) Katy Perry was in the house for the 2012 ASCAP Pop Music Awards.

The “I Kissed a Girl” songstress showed up at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, sporting a beautiful art deco-style gown as she posed for the press.

And it was a big night for Katy, who nabbed a trophy for her hit song “E.T.” as did her producing trio of Max Martin, Ammo, and Dr. Luke.

Having quite the fabulous night, Katy Perry took over the USC Galen Center stage for a high-energy performance as part of the 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night (March 31). The 27-year-old brought plenty of theatrics, as she descended from above while brandishing a sword for the rendition of her new single “Part of Me“.

Aside from offering up a performance at the 2012 KCAs, Miss Perry was one of the night’s big winners. Taking home a blimp to add to her collection of accolades, Katy was voted Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for her work in “The Smurfs“.

Hot off her headline-making Grammys performance, Katy Perry will be hitting the stage again at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The singer will join previously announced performers, UK pop group One Direction, as well as presenters Cee Lo Green, Miranda Cosgrove, Victoria Justice, Chris Colfer, Big Time Rush, Zac Efron, Heidi Klum, Chris Rock, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. Perry’s performance song of choice has not been confirmed, though her newest single “Part of Me” has been heating up the Billboard Hot 100, debuting atop the summit in late February.

Katy Perry has doubly earned her position as a kid favorite — through her music of course — but also for reveling in an outrageous sliming on the show two years ago,” said Marjorie Cohn, president, original programming and development, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group and executive producer of the show. “She works hard and plays hard and that’s what makes her performance on the KCA’s one to look forward to.”

In addition to performing, Perry will battle Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift for the honor of favorite female singer. “Firework” is also up for best song.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards will be held March 31 at the USC Galen Center with Will Smith slated to host. The show will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Talk about bringing the heat!

Katy Perry, who has already sung about fireworks and sunny California, took a fiery turn on stage inside the L.A.’s Staples Center during the Grammy Awards Sunday night with her new song, “Part of Me.”

The singer, 27, who signed her divorce papers last week, first launched into her hit “E.T.” while green beams lit the stage.

But then the stage blacked out, as a blue-haired Perry emerged in a leather-like, silver and gold body suit – a different look than the dazzling gown she walked the red carpet in earlier – to perform her new tune while flames shot up around the stage.

And perhaps the lyrics contained a reference to ex Russell Brand?

“Now look at me, I’m sparking/A firework, a dancing flame/You won’t ever put me out again,” Perry, who’s up for record of the year, one of the night’s top honors, sang. Another line: “You can keep everything.”

As one reader said in PEOPLE.com’s live blog, “Take that Russell.”

Katy Perry may be regretting her last minute decision to cancel on the People’s Choice Awards, where she was honored with five awards out of the six for which she was nominated.

“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards,” she tweeted on Jan. 9, just two days before the ceremony. “I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS”

Though she lost to Demi Lovato in the favorite pop artist category, Perry nabbed a total of five awards for the evening – none of which were broadcast during the show itself. A full list of winners posted online reveals that Perry was selected as the favorite TV guest star for her stint on How I Met Your Mother, beating out Gwyneth Paltrow (Glee), Jim Carrey (The Office), Kristin Chenoweth (Glee) and Michael J. Fox (The Good Wife).

“THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight!” Perry tweeted after the Jan. 11 awards show. “We won so many! Now I need to get more books 2 successfully display them!”

Among Perry’s additional awards are favorite female artist, favorite song of the year for “E.T.”, favorite music video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” and favorite tour headliner.

The People’s Choice Awards were expected to be Perry’s first public appearance since news broke of her impending divorce from comedian Russell Brand. During the media frenzy that followed, Perry’s father — an evangelical minister — was quoted as making several off-color remarks during his sermons. He later apologized.

Perry is next expected to attend the Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, where she is nominated for record of the year and best pop solo performance for “Firework.”
