In the weeks following her split with boyfriend Travis McCoy, Katy Perry has remained silent about the subject, a move which is entirely understandable, if not particularly, you know, Perry-like.

So, when MTV News caught up with her on the Critics’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles, we took the opportunity to ask her about her newly single status. And, somewhat surprisingly, she answered. Sort of.

“Well, it’s a new year, and I’m very focused,” she said when asked about the Gym Class Heroes frontman. “I have a tour coming up on January 23 called the Hello Katy Tour, and I’m putting all my energy and efforts into that.”

So there you go. Perry isn’t worried about dating, just touring. And given her rather hectic schedule, perhaps that’s a good thing. Aside from the tour, there’s her appearance at next month’s Grammy Awards, plus, you know, the very booming business of being Katy Perry.

“I really don’t know how you follow [2008] up. I’m kind of just putting one step in front of the other and I never expected any of it to happen, so I don’t expect it to always happen perfect every time, you know?” she laughed. “I’m constantly knocking on wood and freaking out saying, ‘Really? They want me to do that?!? OK! Really? Presenting at the Critics’ Choice Awards? Great!’ Or at the Grammys, which, by golly, is going to be a fun, fun night.” And just what can we expect from her come Grammy night? “Fruit,” she said, before being ushered down the carpet. Girl of few words, that Katy Perry.

The Grammy Awards are coming to television Feb. 8 and fans are getting the opportunity to vie for a chance to perform with pop princess Katy Perry.

Music fans can upload a video of themselves singing a portion of Perry‘s song “I Kissed a Girl” to www.cbs.com/grammys for the chance to sing with her at the Grammys!

“We are very excited that this year’s installment of My Grammy Moment allows numerous online fans to be an integral part of a performance,” The Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow says of the contest.

Fans can submit video up until Feb. 6. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live from Staples Center in Los Angeles Feb. 8 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Katy Perry’s band mates filmed her in the dressing room… sorry… no nudity… however, she was pretty funny. While listening to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies“, Perry did Beyonce’s new dance move. That weird convulsive movement thing that she’s been doing lately. I’m sure this was all done in good fun, but it definately mocks Beyonce. If you wanna see Beyonce do the dance, go here.

Here is the whole performance of Katy at the MTV VMA Latin America Awards. She did phenominal, even with the slipping at the end! As if I couldn’t love her any more than I already do!

“It’s My F*cking Quincenyera!”

OK, maybe it’s campy fun when scantily dressed women jump out of giant cakes. But campy pop crooner Katy “I Kissed a Girl” Perry likes to flip the script, so here she jumps into a giant cake at the MTV Mexico Latin Awards. But things get more than a little sticky when she goes over to slime her band’s guitarist and winds up slip-slidin’ away. Sweet!

Katy was recently parodied on SNL and it’s kinda funny. Not their best but I laughed. They also have an ode to Kitty Purry with “I Held a Cat”. Watch the video and you’ll know what I mean. RollingStone Magazine says “No”. Ha Ha, that gets me every time.

If Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera ever found themselves in the unlikely situation of a sing-off, Perry says that maybe — just maybe — she can use her background in gospel to take on the blond pop star on known for her strong vocal abilities.

“If Christina Aguilera wanted to have a run-off, I could maybe muster up that soul, that gospel that I grew up in,” she told MTV UK. Perry, whose parents are evangelical Christian preachers, grew up in the church. But, ultimately, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer admits that even with gospel in her soul, she can’t compete with Aguilera’s killer pipes. “No, I can’t,” she admitted.

Another collaboration the 23-year-old burgeoning pop star — who just released the video for her next single “Hot N Cold,” in which she plays a runaway bride — doesn’t see happening anytime soon is one with her boyfriend, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy. But, she wasn’t talking marriage — she just doesn’t see them making music together anytime soon. “I think they have their lane and I have mine,” she said, adding, “He’s got responsibilities to a bunch of other people and his band, and I kind of am solo.”

But if anything musical were to happen between Perry and her beau McCoy, she feels it would be a duet between just the two of them — the rest of the Gym Class Heroes wouldn’t be invited to the party. “So if we did it, I think it would be him and I,” she explained. “But don’t ever [rule out] anything.”
